Be part of the project
We are asking you to submit photographs through a hashtag #wearexperimenting and other numerical variations of the hashtag. This will show the image and information that you have written about that image on the wearexperimenting.co.uk website. You will need to have a social media account. The project works with Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
Photographs that are created in the workshops or submitted online will be used by the artist Jo Howell to create artworks to explore the collective experience of Mackem in October 2018. The photographs collected and scanned through workshops will be held in an archive.
If you decide that you do not want your work to be included in the project or exhibition please let us know via email [email protected], we will confirm within 30 days that your images have been removed.
The online experiment asks that you provide the first part of your postcode, this is to aid the creation of artworks by Jo Howell that respond to specific areas in the City of Sunderland, or to the Mackem experience.
The intended effect is that you will be part of a large community of people living in the City of Sunderland who are actively engaged with the arts, creativity and further expand our collective understanding of a City that is in constant flux.
You may feel a tingle of pride.
Experimenting, observing, and archiving the nuances of the Mackem lived experience in order to better understand our true potential.
